Trainer Assignment

Dear Elder Felt:     This letter will confirm your assignment as a trainer of a new missionary.  This assignment is a sacred trust. A missionary’s first companion will have a profound lasting influence on the development of the missionary.  You must commit yourself to the highest example of obedience and effective proselytizing and do everything in your power to help Elder Fajardo begin his mission positively.      We urge you to approach this assignment prayerfully. You will influence your new missionary by the example you set.     We expect you to follow the daily schedule diligently as outlined in Preach My Gospel, p. viii.  It is essential to conduct effective companionship study daily and help your companion develop the basic missionary skills discussed in Preach My Gospel.   Hold daily and weekly planning sessions to help your companion learn how to plan with a focus on helping investigators progress toward conversion.  (...

I am SO excited for this next transfer!! I will be training a new missionary!!!!!! I am beyond stoked. I've wanted to train a missionary my whole my mission. I just love the fire that they have. I am so excited to meet him on Thursday. I'm going to make sure he starts off his mission off strong with a couple baptisms!     Elder Figueroa and I had a great last week together. We worked hard and saw great miracles. Valerie will be getting baptized in the month of July. It'll be a wonderful service! We found some incredible people that are so prepared. I love how this work works. The Lord places us in certain peoples paths at the perfect time, every time. We pray with faith about where to go the night before and sure enough, the Lord leads us to los escogidos. I'm sad to see Elder Figueroa leave! We're best friends! I've learned so much from him and we've had a miracle filled transfer together.     Knowing that I have two transfers lefts makes my stomach stir a...

Beloved family and friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day. We had a blast yesterday! After church all the sisters in the ward put together a really nice lunch for all the men. It was incredible. They are all so sweet. I love these members so much. They are our angels!     We had a great week! We continue to see miracles every day. We are teaching some wonderful people. I wish I could talk about every single one of them!     Daniela's baptism was so beautiful. Her father, who is not a member yet, bore his testimony at the service. It was so powerful! Her parents should be getting baptized some time in the next six months. They are one of the most incredible families I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I'll send a picture of the baptism!     This is Elder Figueroa's last week! It's super weird because when I started my mission, he was in my zone and had only been out a few months. Now he's leaving! We're going to work hard for his last we...

I Love This Work

Hey everybody!     We had another amazing week. Heavenly Father is in the details and has been leading us on many occasions to find those who are being prepared. The zone is continuing to kill it! As a zone of 5 companionships, we taught 110 lessons this past week. Amazing things are happening!     We have a baptism this weekend! Daniella. We're excited for her and her family. Her parents aren't members yet, but we're working with them!     Something really cool that happened this week! We went to Panda Express on Wednesday after Zone Training Meeting for my birthday and Andrew Cherng was there!! He's the Founder of Panda Express, the guy who started it all! It was nuts because he got the whole restaurant to sing happy birthday and then he gave me a hug. It was pretty neat. I'll send a pic next week.      So many miracles are happening and we are full of joy because of them! A few examples happened last night. We had about an hour left during...

Restoration Of All Things!

Hey everybody! We are emailing today because yesterday was crazy busy! We went to Santa Cruz, it was a blast!     Jonathan and Celeste were baptized on Sunday! It was a beautiful service. I was blessed to be able to confirm Jonathan. It was a very neat, humbling, and spiritual experience. The Lord has a lot in store for both of these young people. I love them dearly. Jonathan's parents (non members) really seemed to enjoy the service. I know it impacted them in a good way.      We had a marvelous week!! Any week where you're planning for a baptism I guess is a pretty good week. We're working hard together and enjoying each other's company. Elder Figueroa is a fantastic missionary. I love serving with him. He's definitely getting more and more tired as the days go on because he only has a few weeks left but he's not letting that slow him down! We want two more baptisms together before he leaves.     The Zone is working miracles!! Together we continue to...

Cool Experience

I was asked to give a baby blessing and a name last minute on Sunday in sacrament meeting. She's not a baby anymore, she's 7. She is Nestor's daughter. But because her mother was less active for so long, she never received a baby blessing and to be named in the church. Anyways, we had talked about having the blessing that morning in Ward council but I guess the bishop forgot to ask someone to do it. Minutes before the blessing, I felt prompted to look at a card that I keep in my wallet with all of the correct wording for priesthood blessings (thanks dad). Bishop then calls priesthood holders including us up to the front to participate in the blessing. When we got up there, the bishop told me that I was giving it. I was a bit thrown off because I just assumed missionaries don't give baby blessings and names. I quickly began translating in my head what I had read on the card into Spanish and the blessing worked out beautifully. I absolutely love how the spirit works. I wo...
