Fill The Font! And Eat Some Fresas

Hey everybody!      We had a marvelous week. We were able to see our brother, Nestor, enter the waters of baptism. It was a beautiful service. He shared his testimony with everybody after he was baptized and it was amazing! He is a changed man. He couldn't stop smiling throughout the entire service. A little background on Nestor! He has family on one of his uncles sides that are all members. His nephew is currently serving a mission. Throughout his life his uncle would take Nestor to church with him but he was never really interested. A few months ago when missionaries came to visit Nestor and his wife, he said that the timing was perfect. They had been going through a really hard time. His wife is a member but was less-active when we started visiting them. They are now such a beautiful active family! They have a 7 year old daughter that is absolutely adorable. Nestor will baptize her when she turns 8. We are currently working on preparing Nestor's sister, Trini, for bapt...

Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well.     I love this area and I love my companion! We are having an absolute blast working together. Elder Figueroa is an incredible missionary. His Spanish is perfect, he teaches really well, he gets along really well with the members and basically everybody we see, he's super chill, and just an all round STUD. I love him. I'm already learning so much from him.      We have had quite an amazing first week together! Nestor didn't get baptized this past weekend but he will be getting baptized this weekend! Pray that everything works out. We set three baptismal dates this week! We are seeing so many awesome miracles. Nestor is for May 28th, Valarie is for June 1st, and Jonathan is for June 5th. We hope to set some more baptismal dates pretty soon. We're working with a lot of amazing people.      The Zone is killing it right now! We have 12 baptismal dates. Everyone is working really hard. This past week our zo...

Big Changes!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing wonderful.      We have had quite the crazy week. It consisted of transfer planning, training meetings, finding, teaching, and baptizing! It doesn't get better than that.      I will be getting transferred! (Kinda). I will just stay in the Yerba Buena Ward and Elder Brockbank will stay in the Almaden Ward. The new assistant will be Elder Gardner! We were in the same MTC District in Mexico. He's a stud and will do amazing things for the mission! President has asked that I serve as Zone Leader in the San Jose Zone, my companion will be Elder Figueroa! He's an incredible missionary so I'm pumped. It's his last transfer in the mission so we're going to work harder than ever so that he can leave the mission absolutely exhausted. We have plans to baptize lots this transfer. We know the names of everyone who we hope to see enter into the waters. It'll be miraculous.      Nestor is still on date to be baptized...

Feliz Día De Las Madres! Y Cinco De Mayo También!

We had a great week! We saw some awesome miracles. We are so excited right now!!      We went on exchanges this week with the Zone Leaders in the Evergreen zone. I got to be with Elder Fluckiger again!! We started our missions around the same time and went on a lot of exchanges together. We worked in Almaden and Elder Brockbank and Elder Smith worked in Yerba Buena. Exchanges ALWAYS bring miracles! Together we taught 12 lessons! It was a great day.      We had MLC on Friday. The topic of discussion was Enduring to the End. We talked about how we can better teach this principle to investigators and returning members and we also talked about life after the mission and how we endure then. It was super weird to think about! We had a guest speaker that also talked about our future in the church and even dating... That kind of threw us off a bit but I guess it'll be important some time down the road. All in all it was a good council, we learned a lot.   ...

Dearest Mother

I just want to extend my sincere apologies for not talking to you more and praising you during the skype call! Considering it was Mothers Day (your day). As soon as I saw everybody I was very overwhelmed and completely forgot to tell you how important you are to me. It was mothers day and I didn't even praise you for being the mother that you are!      Mom, I wouldn't be the man I am today without you. Well, I am not a man quite yet. I am still just a mere boy striving to become a man. You have taught me countless life lessons and have always taught me to stay strong in the church and trust it.     I would be completely clueless in this life without you! I don't know how I would have handled moving here without you, how I would have gone through middle school, high school, track season, college application, and preparing for a mission. None of these would have been possible without you, Mom. Those are just the big things... There have been countless other things...

"La Paz Os Dejo, Mi Paz Os Doy"

Hello everybody! I hope you all had a magnificent week!     We went on a super long hike this morning so I don't have a whole lot of time.  We had a really good week! We continue to teach Nestor and Paulina, they are progressing wonderfully. Nestor is still ready for the 14th. We are hoping to have another baptism on the same day, a girl named Valerie! She's been wanting to get baptized for a really long time so we're really excited.      We talked to a lot of really awesome people this week on the streets. A lot of them were really nice and interested. Hopefully we can follow up with them this week and pick up some new investigators. I LOVE talking to people. When you understand what it is we are sharing, the fear disappears. I wish for all people to know about the gospel of Jesus Christ! It is the only cure in the world. What we share is so sacred.      President and Sister Mella were at a mission Presidents seminar all weekend so he asked ...

Keep It In My Wallet

So on the last Monday before I left, after I had been set apart, I went to go play basketball with Elder Weaver and Elder Gregory. While playing, Elder Weaver made a missionary tag for me. 19 months later, I still carry it around in my wallet! He cried when I showed him haha.     Elder Michael J. Felt California San Jose Mission
