Another Insane Week!
It was quite an eventful week! Transfers are over!! Elder Cusworth and I will be staying together for a third transfer, I'm so excited! I feel like I am serving with my brother. We get along really well. We're going to see miracles this transfer.
Tuesday was transfers! It was a ginormous transfer meeting. We had 18 missionaries going home and about 60 missionaries getting transferred. We were all running around like mad men trying to make sure everybody had everything that they needed. It was a crazy drive up to the temple because we were running late, but once we were inside, pure peace. I was overcome with comfort and warmth. I love the temple more than words can convey.
The next morning, we dropped off the missionaries at the airport and welcomed the new ones a couple hours later! They are such a solid group! Probably the best one I've seen thus far. They are all super excited to be here. We took them straight to downtown San Jose and contacted them. It was a blast, we talked to a lot of great people and received some pretty solid referrals.
The rest of the week was all hustle and bustle of training and getting people situated.
We finally had time to proselyte in our area on Friday and we had such an awesome experience. One of President Mella's sons came out with us. He was back visiting from college for the holidays. His name is David and he's so awesome. We had planned to visit a bunch of people and they all fell through, we were super bummed. Then my awesome companion felt inspired to visit one more person, Bonnievee. She's a 92 year old lady who is bedridden. We had no idea why we went to see her but we did. Her caregiver answered the door and let us in. I asked if we could share a message with her after we visited with Bonnievee, and she accepted!! SHE IS SO PREPARED. When we first sat down with her, we asked her what role religion has played in her life. She told us that she's been bouncing around churches for most of her life and is still searching for one that is suitable for her. She wants a church where the members live what they teach and are passionate about what they believe. Perfect right? We taught her the restoration and she loved it. We're seeing her again this week. Unfortunately she couldn't make it to church so pray that she comes next week!! We're so excited for her!
There is so much going on here! The members are starting to catch our vision and they want us to teach their friends. Miracles are pouring down. We are about to GO TO WORK.
My goodness I love being a missionary so much. I love this church. I love this gospel. The gospel answers all the questions that we have in life. Amidst the complex tasks that are in our lives and in the world, we must know that God yearns for our happiness and peace. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives us the strength and the eternal perspective to face what is before us, and also what is coming, with good cheer. It's perfectly simple.
Sometimes as missionaries, we get rejected. But that's OKAY! It's what we are becoming that matters.
I love you all so much! Feliz ano nuevo!!
