Hey Hey Hey!
WOW it was a crazy week. I don't know where to begin!
I guess I will start with the coolest part...
On Tuesday, President Mella, Elder Cusworth and myself went to a fireside/devotional at Stanford University. The meeting was in a huge memorial cathedral/church building. It was super nice. It was a fireside about becoming better scholars and disciples. The topic of discussion was the role of faith and values in the quest for knowledge. There was a really important guest speaker there! Right before the meeting commenced, President took us up to the front to introduce us to the guest speaker, Elder Quentin L. Cook of the twelve apostles! It was incredible. President introduced us and we talked to him for a minute or two. The whole time we were talking to him, he was holding my hand in his and was holding Elder Cusworth's arm (I've never felt such smooth hands before, I guess it's an apostle thing?). It was a pretty awesome experience that I will never forget! It was such an honor to meet him for the second time on my mission.
This week, while President and Sister Mella were at a mission presidents seminar, Elder Cusworth and I stayed at the mission home with their two boys, Mike and Matt! We had a blast.
I love the Almaden Ward!! Even though we don't have as much time as we would like to proselyte, people get put into our path. And they come from awesome members. At the moment it's all coming from the youth!! We had three youth come up to us this week saying, "hey I have a friend that has some questions about the gospel and they want to come to church!". We are so excited to meet with them. Friday we had a 'trunk or treat' activity with the Ward! It was an awesome turn out. We had some less active people show up and tons of non members! We decked out our van pretty nicely, I'll attach some pics. The kids loved it.
I love this gospel with all my heart. It has blessed my life in numerous ways. Something that I continue to learn throughout my life and my mission is that everything takes work, even being happy.
However much we put into the gospel and life, (studying, learning, praying, progressing) is what we get out of it. An Elder in the mission shared this scripture: "All victory and glory is brought to pass unto you through your diligence, faithfulness, and prayers of faith". (Doctrine & Covenants 103:36". Understanding the gospel and gaining that precious eternal perspective doesn't come easy. It takes diligence, work ethic, faith, and a positive attitude. But once we get to that point, being happy and joyful comes naturally. Heavenly Father wants us to be happy and peaceful more than anything, and He'll do whatever it takes in order for that to happen. He wants to see us act, to use our agency. When we utilize that agency and seek and do all things that are the will of God, blessings from on high will continually pour down upon our heads. Oh how marvelous is the great plan of God.
I love you all! have a wonderful week.
