Miracles!
My beloved family and friends! I'm so excited to tell you all about the miracles we had this week.
It started off pretty upsetting because disaster struck with Artemio. We went to see him Sunday night to see if he prayed about his baptismal date, and he didn't want it anymore. He told us he never prayed and that he didn't want to anymore. He didn't want to pray, read, go to church, or do anything. We were shocked. What possibly could have happened in a matter of a few hours! Satan is definitely not going to let him get baptized without a fight. The power of the adversary is very real. He went from wanting to be baptized more than anything to not wanting anything to do with the church. BUT, the miracle comes! Saturday night we opened our fast telling Heavenly Father that whoever comes to church tomorrow, is ready to be baptized. We were expecting quite a number of people, and Artemio was the last person on our mind to come. And he came!! When he walked in we had the biggest smiles on our faces. Hopefully he doesn't go astray again. We'll be visiting him a lot this week to see where he's at.
We picked up two new families this week!! And they are so prepared! A few weeks ago while walking to our car, the spirit hit us like a brick and we felt prompted to turn around and stop a man walking into his apartment. We told him who we were and shared a small message. He told us we could come back and visit him! And this week we finally got in with him and his family. His wife answered and asked if we spoke Spanish, we said yes and then she opened the door wide and said "come in come in!" We taught them the restoration and it went lovely. The husband accepted baptism and wants to come to church!
The other family we found are my favorite! Mainly because they have these two boys that are twins, Eric & Rene. They are eight years old and I absolutely love them. Here's the story behind them: So a few weeks ago, Elder Jones and I were at target getting groceries on P-day. These two little boys ran up to us with the biggest smile on their faces! We didn't recognize them at all but they seemed like they recognized us. They asked who we were so we told them that we were missionaries. Their mom came and got them shortly after, and that was it. Walking away I couldn't help but picture those two little boys in white. Well, this week while walking to our car after an appointment, the same two boys ran up to us!! They showed us where they lived and we met their mother and we shared our message! It was wonderful. I have no doubt that it was the light of Christ within them that led them to us.
We had a lot of other awesome things happen this week! We had MLC and it was so inspiring! I love President Mella and all that he does for us.
I always love continuing my study of the gospel. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is simple. And this gospel was taught by a simple man, a carpenter even. He is Jesus Christ, the savior of the world. I always think about why He is important in my life, and often think about His importance in other people's lives. Why is what He taught so important for us to understand? What are some of the great truths the Savior taught? President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, listed four in a recent general conference talk:
• “Our Father has given His children the great plan of happiness.
• “Through the Atonement … , we can live forever with our loved ones.”
• “We will have glorious, perfect, and immortal bodies, unburdened by sickness or disability.”
• “Our tears of sadness and loss will be replaced with an abundance of happiness and joy.”
Throughout His ministry in Jerusalem and in the ancient Americas after He was resurrected, Jesus didn't just point the way to happiness--He led the way. He leads the way. Through His Atonement, He leads us to love. Through His teachings, He leads us to eternal truths. Through His perfect life, He leads us to the path of obedience. He is the great exemplar that we all must follow to have true happiness and peace in this life, and complete joy in the next life. I know this to be true.
I hope y'all have an exceptional week!
With love,
Elder Felt
