California Crusin' - CSJM
I apologize for the blank email I sent earlier!
My beloved friends and family! How are you all! I hope everyone had a splendid week.
All is well here in San Jose, California! I'm loving it. The weather is perfect every single day. It's usually between 80-90 during the day and it gets really cool at night. When we wake up, it's all cold! It's perfect. I never want to leave!
The people here are really awesome, especially the people we serve! Hispanic people have my heart. I am constantly amazed by their humility and way of life. They are the kindest people I have ever come to know. It's a privilege to be with them and serve them. We still get pretty shocking looks from the old Hispanics when we talk to them on the street or when they answer the door and two white boys start speaking to them in Spanish haha it's the best.
We had a great week! Zone Training Meeting went really well! We learned a lot from each other about the power that comes from searching the scriptures.
There was stake conference this week and president Mella spoke! It was awesome. Something that stuck with me was a quote that he shared, "sometimes faith is trusting your own feelings that you felt ions ago". This is so true! We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father whom we lived with long before we came to this life. We lived with Him as Spirit children and while there, we learned of His ways. He presented His plan to us and we accepted it by coming down to earth. Although we don't remember it, we can feel it. God speaks to our minds and our hearts. He reveals truths to us. We are the offspring of God. Therefore, the feelings of peace and joy we get are from Him. It makes sense. He wouldn't send us down here without guidance and direction. C.S. Lewis said something along the lines of this: Every human being has a deep yearning for something that the world cannot provide. That's proof that heaven is our home.
Artemio is still on the straight and narrow path for his baptism on the 29th! He's progressing really well and reading the Book of Mormon like never before. He's such a funny guy, we love him so much. We can't wait to take him out on visits with us once he's a member!
We had a really awesome experience/miracle this week. We had about 45 minutes left of proselyting time on Friday evening, so we decided to visit a former investigator from about four years ago. We had never met her or heard anything about her, we just remembered seeing her old teaching record. We had left the record at home which had her number and address on it. We didn't want to go back home and waste time so we tried our best to remember. All we remembered was the street name. So we got to the street, said a prayer, and got out of our car. We were led to a set of apartments and the first door we knocked on, a lady that was talking on the phone answered the door. She said to whoever she was talking to, "es los elderes' '. We knew right away it was the right one. She got off the phone and told us right off the bat that she needs a blessing. She was told on Tuesday that she has cancer in her bones in her shoulders and arms. The person that she was talking to on the phone was her son, who is a member, and he told her to ask us to give her a blessing. So of course, we went in and gave her a blessing. She's not a member, and it turns out she's the mother of the girl we were looking for. But she was a very faithful woman. She was crying after the prayer and kept thanking the Savior and giving Him gratitude. She proceeded to tell us that on Tuesday after she got the bad news, her friend told her that angels would come to help her. She told us that we were those Angels. It's an indescribable feeling to know that you were an answer to someone else's prayer. It's miraculous to be led by the spirit to a specific person that needed our help at that time. I have a personal testimonial that God is well aware of our personal lives and that He will guide you and send you people to lift you up. He is the Almighty. His power and wisdom transcends all human understanding! We must always trust Him.
I know that Christ lives. His church is on the earth today. He's here. Find him. Search for Him. He will manifest the truth of all things unto you. All you need to do is search, knock, and ask. He will answer. Maybe not in your time, but I testify that He'll never be late.
I love you all!
