The Mission
My friends and family! I love you all!
I am emailing today because yesterday we had zone conference. It's been a wonderful week. Elder Jones and I have been WORKING HARD. Every single night, appointment after appointment, we're sprinting back to our car to get to our next appointment in time. I'm still
trying to get used to our area! It's huge!!! Covering two wards is so much fun. We've been doing a lot of less-active work in the YSA ward this past week. YSA wards are so much fun to serve in!
So yesterday we had two of our investigators at church. Armando and his nephew Miguel. Miguel is in his 30's and he loves the church. He loves the Book of Mormon and knows it's true. He wants to get baptized buttttttt there's a little issue! His girlfriend lives with him. And she's extremely less-active. So we're going to re-activate her, get them married, and baptize Miguel! Armando, our blind man, loves coming to church but he's still very passionate about Catholicism. We're still trying to get a hold of some tapes/discs of the Book of Mormon that he can listen to. We are confident that once he starts doing that, he will come to know of the truthfulness.
Abi is still progressing, slowly but surely. SHE KNOWS SHE WANTS TO BE BAPTIZED NOW!!! It was insane!! So she called us last week asking to meet up right away. So we met her at the church and talked. She said she was having a terrible day and that there were a million different
things pulling her in every direction. She is stressed about college and family issues. So she went to Panda Express to get a fortune cookie. Yes, she only went to get a fortune, not to eat. Why? We have no clue. I guess she depends on those things to tell her what to do haha. Anyways, you will never guess what the fortune said!!! We were freaking out when she told us. It said "go to the elders when you feel a confidence crisis". Crazy right!? So that's exactly what she did. God works in mysterious ways, literally. We read 2 Nephi 31 with her. While reading the last verse in the chapter, it all clicked for her. It says "And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen". After reading it, she paused. After a minute of silence she said "I think I understand now. This isn't about what you guys are teaching me, it's what God is trying to teach. It's His doctrine. And there's no other way". We smiled and nodded our heads. We tried to set a baptismal date for July 5th but she said she still needs time to think about it.
So many other things happened but time is always short. Miracles are happening every day here and it's so marvelous to see God's hand work wonders in our everyday work. It's hard to understand how we even get through our day with everything that goes on, and things that randomly pop up, and people that we talk to. God is at the head of this, and He somehow makes it all work. It's a wonderful thing to experience.
"The Spirit of God like a fire is burning! The latter day glory begins to come forth; the visions and blessings of old are returning, and angels are coming to visit the earth. We'll sing and we'll shout with the armies of heaven, Hosanna, Hosanna to God and the Lamb! Let glory to them in the highest be given, henceforth and forever, amen and Amen.
I testify that visions are still occurring, that Angels are still coming and that they will continue to come until the work is done. We are living in the dispensation of the fullness of time. The dispensation that prophets of old have testified. This is the true church of Jesus Christ. It is true my brothers and sisters. I know it.
