Hello Friends And Family!
It's been a great week! Nothing too exciting has happened... Well, besides FINDING TEACHING AND BAPTIZING!!! The zone is still pretty pumped from the previous week, so hopefully we can keep the fire going strong. It is an honor to serve alongside them all.
SO! Our investigators.
Our closest one to baptism is probably Isaura Mendez. She called us about two weeks ago out of the blue. We had no idea who she was. She told us that some English elders had given her our number and called us because she was looking for Spanish speaking missionaries. So we went and saw her and she instantly started crying and asked if God exists. We bore testimony that he does in fact exist and that He Lives!! We invited her to get baptized after our second lesson and she accepted. We are just waiting to set a date because she hasn't come to church yet. WHY WON'T PEOPLE JUST COME TO CHURCH. It's frustrating sometimes.
We found Uriel this week. He is so solid!! We went to visit an investigator named Vitoria. She answered the door and said to come back tomorrow because she was too tired, then a guy from inside yelled "let them in!! I want to hear them". It was Uriel! He has been prepared to hear our message. So hopefully we can meet with him again this week and invite him to be baptized.
We have a ton of other investigators that we're teaching but they're all kinda on the same level. They're progressing but not super well. We might have to drop a few of them this week.
So a couple weeks ago we received another call from a random lady asking us to come see her. We went in and met her and WOW she was SO happy to see us!! She was incredible!!! We sat down and listened to her talk for about 10 minutes. She's from Peru so it was hard to understand her, her Spanish is a little different from the normal Spanish that we normally hear here. She was talking about how amazing God is and how she's been looking for the missionaries for 3 years in this area. So the whole time Elder Van and I were thinking "Oh my goodness we're totally going to baptize her in 3 weeks". She proceeded to say some other things that kind of seemed like she was a member. So we asked if she was a member of our church already and she responded, "Claro que si!!!" Which basically means yes of course!! So we were a little bummed haha. But it was okay because we found out that she had been less-active for years and was dying to come back to church. So we organized a ride for her every week! She has come two weeks in a row. Seeing her face when she walked into the chapel was the most precious sight!! She looked up and started to praise God with tears in her eyes. I love it when people come back to the fold, it's the same amount of joy of seeing someone enter into the waters of Baptism.
Everything else is going really well! I gave a talk yesterday during church! I was asked to speak for 8-10 minutes. That's longer than most talks I've given in English haha. It's okay though because I am at the point where I feel pretty comfortable with my Spanish. It's the best feeling. I love this area and I love my companion. He is the biggest stud and I am learning so much from him.
I love my mission more than I can even begin to describe!! I never want to leave and I never want to take my badge off. It's an extraordinary honor to represent the church, my family, and most importantly Jesus Christ.
I love you all!! Have a tremendous week.
