Que Tal!
It has been an awesome week. I went on exchanges with Elder Bringhurst on Wednesday, it was great! I had a lot of fun with him. He works very hard and is ALWAYS looking for ways to serve in any way he can. He is a fantastic elder.
I am definitely grateful to be in the Spanish program though! The people are just so humble and kind. Plus they make way better food, we get spoiled almost every night!
So I mentioned a couple weeks ago about how so many people will be impacted from the baptism of the Elias family in our branch. And it's happening!! Sonia and Ramon (the parents of the family that got baptized) are doing remarkable things for the branch! They are helping everybody out and they are sharing the gospel with EVERYONE! In fact, they both came to a lesson with us with our #1 investigator, Juanita! It was incredible! She came to church for the FIRST TIME and they picked her up for it! Beforehand, she could never come to church because of her husband that wouldn't let her. She knows it's all true and wants it more than anything. She even read Matthew 7 to us: "by their fruits ye shall know them". She told us that she knows within her heart that our church is the correct fruit that she's been looking for. My goodness, the blessings that come from a family baptism are unquenchable. They are endless. Miracles and blessings are literally being poured down here in Hollister. Juanita is on the road to baptism, she wants it more than anything. We're working on a date with her now. In her closing prayer during the lesson, she said with staggered words and sobbs, "thank you Father, for sending me these two angels' '. Happiness and warmth filled my soul. Little things like that remind me every day of why I am out here. I am so happy. I have come to know what real joy feels like.
We had an incredible lesson with Hermano Montuy. He and his wife are less-active and have been for years now. He used to be a branch President!!! And he's less-active... It's so sad. BUT, we had an INCREDIBLE lesson with him yesterday. Elder Matthias and I were coming back from a meeting up in Gilroy and we were prompted to stop by. In the lesson, he shared with us incredible stories about how God is always watching over him. He has the most powerful testimony and assurance that God's power is real. Towards the end, I straight up just said "hermano, you have the most incredible testimony I have ever heard. You have an enormous desire to share the gospel. You are so in tune with the spirit and always listen to those promptings. What is it then, that's keeping you from coming to church?" Tears filled his eyes. I continued, "The branch needs you. The Lord needs you NOW in helping to build up the Kingdom of God". His answer stuck me with full force, "We will be back this year brother, and you can count on that".
I love this work with every fiber in my being. There is no greater feeling than seeing people change their lives for The Lord. There is no greater feeling than hearing a servant of God testify. When they testify, I am hit with the Holy Ghost. It is this power that convinces man. It is the power of God himself that convinces man of the truth. It isn't the evil cunning ways of mankind, it isn't worldly power, it is the simple feeling of the Holy Ghost that convinces us. When we ask the Father in the name of Christ, "He won't leave us without a witness" - Brigham Young.
I love all of you. Stay strong and keep on keepin on.
