P-Day Cruisin

Sorry for not emailing yesterday! Our zone went to Santa Cruz for P-Day! It was amazing, I'll send pics.

This past week had its ups and downs. It was extremely difficult at first. Our recent convert Javier, hadn't come to church in a month and we hadn't seen or heard from him in weeks. Then to make matters worse, Jauna, our number one progressing investigator who was ready for baptism, called us on Tuesday morning and basically dropped us. She feels like she's being separated from her family and is scared that if she gets baptized, her family will disown her. It was heartbreaking for Elder Matthias and I. We were 100% certain that she was going to get baptized. Missions are tough sometimes! But, all is well.

The week got better though! We picked up a new family of investigators and found Javier!!! It was the best. He's been working from 3am until evening so that explains everything. Brother Montuy and his wife, the ones that have been less-active for years and is an ex-branch president, CAME TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY!! The first time in years!! It was miraculous. They were engaged and involved the entire time, it was such a glorious feeling watching people return to the fold. Another thing that hit me was during a lesson we had last night with Jose Luis, a less-active man. We meet with him weekly and love him so much. He's going through a lot of rough patches right now. He said something that almost made me cry, "You guys care for me and visit me more than my own family, you guys mean everything to me". I love him so much!!! He always calls us when he's confused about life or when he's going through a hard time. I am grateful to be in his service.

SO the mission changed drastically for the Spanish missionaries! For the past few years, tracting has been prohibited in the mission. We are only allowed to contact people who are outside on the street. As of Saturday, all Spanish missionaries are now allowed to tract in predominantly Spanish areas!! I'm actually pretty excited for it. Because there's been so many times where we've been contacting Spanish places and nobody was outside, we wanted to tract so badly because we knew everyone was inside, and now we can! We're about to get a whole lot busier!

I hope everyone had an awesome week. The past few weeks I have been studying Christ-like attributes, this last week in particular I studied hope. Before I studied the topic, I always thought hope was like "hoping the weather will be good" or "hoping that we see miracles" whatever it may be. But I learned that hope is having a sure knowledge of God's promised blessings for us, and then trusting him and those blessings and then enduring to the end with joy, knowing that we will inherit all that God has. HOW GREAT IS HOPE! We can always have joy in our hearts and peace in our minds knowing that everything will be okay. Our Heavenly Father will not let us down, He is in charge.

I love you all mucho! Missing you guys dearly.
