New Transfer, New Fire, New Miracles!!
My new companion is Elder Barbosa!! He's INCREDIBLE! He is a convert of 2 and a half years!! He left to serve a mission exactly one year after he was baptized. You would never even guess that he's only been a member for a couple years. I am learning so much from him. He's 27 years old and used to be Jewish! He's a beast. Together in the past 5 days we have already picked up 8 new investigators!! And they're all super solid. We have a lot of work to do for this transfer.
I was a little bit worried about the district staying focused on the work at the end of last transfer. With two missionaries going home, it was hard for them to stay 100% focused. Their excitement on going home rubbed off on us. We too started thinking about the day when we will go home and all these thoughts soon filled our minds with what it would be like. All is well now, the 3 new missionaries that came in settled all the worries. They have brought in a new excitement about the work and together, our district has re-kindled that fire. We have all agreed to be exactly obedient and work harder than we ever have before. We committed to working so hard that we collapse each evening when we return to our apartments. I am beyond excited to see the Lord's hand in our work this transfer.
I love my district so much. I am beyond honored and privileged to work beside each of them. Every day I learn so much from them.
Miracle moment with Gus!! He no longer has to serve jail time for 8 months. He talked to his lawyer and figured some things out, he now only has to go to jail for 10 days! And then he'll be on house arrest for a couple months. The Lord is watching over His people. Hopefully he can get baptized very quickly! He has stopped drinking alcohol completely! He went from drinking about 35 beers a day to none. His progress is miraculous.
We have re-connected with Juana! She still knows it's all true and continues to read and study the book of Mormon. We just need to keep working with her and building up her confidence so that she can take that leap of faith and enter into the waters of baptism.
One of the new investigators, Paladio, is SO ready! He was taught by missionaries a long time ago and had a baptismal date, but he backed out at the last second because his sister convinced him to stay in the Catholic church. He also knows that the gospel is true. We are working with him to rekindle the happiness and peace in which he felt from the lessons.
We have return appointments with all of our new investigators in whom we are seeing this week so we are super psyched to see what happens.
I love this work so much!! True joy and happiness comes only from giving it your all, day in and day out. I can truly testify of this; for I have witnessed it myself this past week. Miracles upon miracles are about to be ushered into Hollister. The Lord is hastening His work, and we must keep up. We must remain worthy at all times so that when the opportunity arises, we are ready. I am honored to be a representative of our Savior Jesus Christ in these last days. As we find those lost sheep and bring them unto the fold, we will discover a new sense of happiness and peace of mind. Every key has been restored to the earth. The gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fullness. We have living prophets and apostles whom we can receive further light and knowledge. We must do all we can to spread this beautiful message.
I love you all so much! I hope everybody has a fantastic week. Always remember who we are and what we are a part of!
Elder Felt
