Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope everyone had an exceptional thanksgiving full of love and grace!
We visited 4 different member families on thanksgiving day and were fed tremendously.
I have never eaten so much in my life, it was hard to walk. But it was a glorious day!
This week has been awesome. We have 4 new investigators! So in total we have 8 investigators at the moment. Half of them are all progressing and doing well, the other half don't like to keep commitments and always bail on our appointments but all is well. I love them all so much.
Our miracles investigator, Javier, is phenomenal. He was an alcoholic for three years while living in Santa Cruz. One evening while he was very drunk, he was on the computer. An ad popped up about the church, he clicked on it and it led him to the church website. He saw a picture of the temple and became very intrigued. He started chatting to a member online. He made it very aware that he was very drunk. After being an alcoholic for 3 years, he told her that it was impossible to stop. She told him to try praying for help, he laughed about it and jokingly said a prayer. The next morning when he woke up, he walked to the refrigerator to get a beer, as he reached for it, he couldn't grab it. The next morning he tried again, and the same thing happened. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't grab the beer. The only thing he could grab was the milk. He had a warm feeling that it was God answering his prayers. He soon found the missionaries in Santa Cruz but shortly after, he moved here to Hollister. So the missionaries in Santa Cruz gave him our number. We've been meeting regularly, and he came to church on Sunday. He told us that when we teach him, he feels that God is speaking to him through us. He wants to know everything! He will do anything and everything in his power to get baptized. I love him so much. The Lord has been preparing him. Little things like that remind me of why I am out here.
President Joseph Fielding Smith said:
"There is no cure for the ills of the world except the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our hope for peace, for temporal and spiritual prosperity, and for an eventual inheritance in the kingdom of God is found only in and through the restored gospel. There is no work that any of us can engage in that is as important as preaching the gospel and building up the church and kingdom of God on earth"
I can personally testify of his words. I love this work and the joy it brings me.
I hope everyone enjoys their week!!
