My First Area Is................................... HOLLISTER!!
Hello everybody!!
So I am officially in the mission field and I couldn't be happier. It's a little town about 45 minutes outside of San Jose. It's in the middle of nowhere haha it's surrounded by never ending fields and hills. It's quite gorgeous. Our area is half bike and half car, I love riding bikes and being the typical missionary everyone always sees haha. So my companion is Elder Hunt. He is a STUD. I seriously got so lucky. He was serving in El Salvador at first for 8 months but got a disease from a certain mosquito so he switched into the San Jose mission about 6 months ago. I am so blessed to have him as my trainer, I'm going to learn so much. We are teaching about 5 families right now and about 8 other people. They are all really different and have different needs, but I love them all the same. We are inviting a lot of them to be baptized this week so hopefully it all works out. Whenever I'm feeling down or unqualified, I think about my investigators and member families. I LOVE THE MEMBERS!! They are all the sweetest people I have ever met. We have a branch of about 30 people, I love it so much. I'm so excited to work with them all. There's a couple families that have the cutest little kids... They make my day every day.
So the people here don't have very much at all. They all live in tiny houses or apartments that only have two rooms, a kitchen and a living room and then their beds. They are extremely humble and selfless. I've never seen anything like it. Even though they don't have much, they give us everything. We get fed pretty well here. The food is so different but it tastes AMAZING!! All we eat is authentic Mexican food and it's great.
On Saturday we got to go to the Oakland temple and hear from Elder David A. Bednar!!! He talked to us for about 3 hours. It was wonderful. I love hearing from the apostles of The Lord!!
I don't have much time but know that I love being here and I love this work more than anything in the whole wide world. Even though I can't really understand people most of the time, I love them. I love and miss you all so very much.
Con Amor,
Elder Felt
