I LOVE Mexico City
It has been an incredible week!
I was asked to speak in sacrament last Sunday, my topic was The Fall. I was extremely nervous because giving talks in English is hard enough. But after the meeting my branch president told me that my Spanish is really good and that I surprised everybody. So that's good I guess. Most people I know here took some Spanish at some point in their life, so I'm kind of regretting taking German in high school. But all is well! The language is coming along quite nicely.
We had the privilege of hearing from Elder Don R. Clarke from the first quorum of the 70! He is a remarkable speaker! I took a ton of notes and learned a whole lot. He told us that "the day we care more about the people we serve and teach than ourselves, will be the day we become truly happy". Hence, charity is the pure love of Christ. He taught us three principles: Diligence is 10x better than intelligence, the process you learn of work will be a great benefit in the field and for the rest of your life, and last but not least, don´t be afraid of mistakes. They're inevitable. We make mistakes in order to progress, learn, and grow.
I got to go to the temple today with my district!! It was so beautiful. I didn't want to leave. The visitors center there is full of history and awesomeness. The temple is so cool!! It looks like it was built by the Mayans in ancient times, the architecture is quite unique. It was perfect. The spirit around those grounds was incredibly strong, I felt at peace. I was reminded about how privileged we are to have so many of these beautiful temples around the world today. How blessed we are to be able to make sacred covenant ordinances in these temples and to know that we will be with our families for eternity in the highest kingdom with the most high God, our loving Heavenly Father.
The drive to and from the temple was once again extremely sketchy, but super fun. One of the pictures below is a four wheeler with four people on it going about 50mph in traffic. I love it.
MITCHELL WILKS IS HERE!! I saw him this morning during breakfast and freaked out. It was such a miraculous reunion. Knowing he is here now makes me soooo happy. He had the biggest smile and he is eager to start the work and learn.
I absolutely love being here, I'm sure going to miss it a lot. But I am ready for the field. I am ready to sprint and never stop.
One of my most favorite things to do in the mission is to treasure the words of eternal life. Elder Bednar teaches that "Treasuring up the words of life is fasting, pondering, evaluating, applying, learning, and pondering". The spirit can only work through us if we give him something to work with. Always treasure up continually.
Words cannot explain how much I love this work and how happy I am. I love you all dearly and miss you all so very much.
Con amor,
Elder Felt
